HITMAN 3 PRE-LAUNCH GUIDE (PROGRESSION CARRYOVER)

https://www.ioi.dk/hitman-3-pre-launch-guide/
---
Welcome to the HITMAN 3 Pre-launch guide. This blog post will be our place to share in-depth details about HITMAN 3, including how to carryover your progression, our new Access Pass system, what to expect on launch day and more.
We are excited to see all of our players embark on Agent 47’s next journey and experience the dramatic conclusion to the World of Assassination trilogy.
Before you start reading, this is how the game begins.

Release Details

HITMAN 3 will be available on 20 January 2021 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, Stadia, Nintendo Switch and PC.
We’re happy to confirm that the Nintendo Switch version of HITMAN 3 will also launch on 20 January. The Switch version of HITMAN 3 is playable via cloud streaming technology. A stable and permanent internet connection is required to play.
Release Time HITMAN 3 will release simultaneously on all platforms at 13:00 UTC on 20 January 2021. To see the exact release time in your timezone, follow this link. This release time will ensure that the IOI teams in Copenhagen and Malmö are best-placed to ensure a smooth launch. At that time, digital copies will be available to play and the games servers will be online.
📷
Pre-load It will be possible to pre-load HITMAN 3 on PlayStation and Xbox platforms. Make sure that you’ve configured your console to do that and the downloads will begin when they have been prepared and certified. On PC, there won’t be a pre-load option for HITMAN 3 and downloads will begin at the above release time.
(For PS4 and PS5 owners in Asia, please note that HITMAN 3 will not be available for pre-order or pre-load. This is due to recent changes in the age ratings systems in those regions. HITMAN 3 will be available for purchase at the above time.)
Day One Patch HITMAN 3 will require a day one patch for all disc users. The day one patch will be automatically applied to digital players. This patch will include access to the VR mode for PlayStation users and will include the remaining locations that are not included on the disc.
Game Size HITMAN 3 will take up approximately 60-70 GB of storage space on all platforms, with the obvious exceptions of Stadia and Switch. The data that you download will also include all the content required to access HITMAN 1 and HITMAN 2 – but you are still required to own/purchase access to those games. To underline that; purchasing HITMAN 3 does not grant access to the previous two games by default.
Using this method allows us to reduce the file size for all players to 60-70 GB and has the benefit of making the process of redeeming or purchase access to HITMAN 1 and HITMAN 2 as simple as possible. (We talk about that more later). Also, we want to clarify that reducing the file size doesn’t mean that we’ve made any compromises on the visual/audio quality of the game. If you’re curious about the technical aspects that made this possible, we recently talked to PC Gamer about it.

HITMAN 3 - Editions

There are two editions of HITMAN 3; The Standard Edition and the Deluxe Edition.
– The Standard Edition includes the HITMAN 3 base game. Nice and simple. – The Deluxe Edition includes the HITMAN 3 base game and the Deluxe Pack. Again, nice and simple.
The only difference between the two editions is the Deluxe Pack, which includes 6 Deluxe Escalations, in-game suits, items and weapons, a digital soundtrack for each game in the World of Assassination trilogy, an introduction to each HITMAN 3 campaign mission by the Game Director and a digital artbook that highlights the characters, targets and missions included in the trilogy. A free IOI Account is required to download the digital soundtracks and World of HITMAN Art Book.
Here’s a visual look at everything that’s packed into the HITMAN 3 Deluxe Edition:
📷
Next-gen Upgrade Console players who pre-order or purchase a physical or digital copy of HITMAN 3 (either Standard or Deluxe) on the current generation of consoles (PS4/Xbox One), will receive a free upgrade to the next-gen version of the game for no additional cost. Note that you won’t be able to receive the next-gen upgrade if you purchase HITMAN 3 on disc and you own a disc-free next gen console.
When making a digital purchase, you will automatically be entitled to download the next-gen version when you access the game on that console.
When making a physical disc purchase, you’ll need to insert the current gen disc into your next gen console and you’ll be able to download the next-gen version for no additional cost. Simply keep the disc in your machine whenever you want to play and you’ll be good to go.
Pre-order Bonus The HITMAN 3 pre-order bonus celebrates all three games in the World of Assassination trilogy. Introducing the Trinity Pack. You’ll get it just by pre-ordering the game, no matter what platform or edition.
The Trinity Pack includes a total of 9 items, with 3 distinct sets that represent a different game from the trilogy. Each set includes a suit, briefcase and weapon. From the White of HITMAN 1, the Red of HITMAN 2 or the Black of HITMAN 3, you’ll have all 9 items in your inventory to mix and match as you like. The classic Hitman insignia is etched onto the items in gold to add an elegant flourish.
Note: The Trinity Pack will not be included with either the Standard Edition or Deluxe Edition after January 20.
📷
At selected retailers, pre-ordering a physical edition of HITMAN 3 will also include an exclusive physical passport. This unique item is filled with details and references from Agent 47’s career and commemorates 20 years of Hitman. See the list of retailers in our previous pre-order blog post.

Progression Carryover

All current HITMAN 2 players will be able to carryover their hard-earned progression into HITMAN 3.
After completing the carryover process, HITMAN 2 players will be able to start HITMAN 3 with their existing player profile, XP rank, location mastery levels, location mastery unlocks, challenge progress, challenge unlocks and Elusive Target suits/unlocks. All of those things are what we call ‘progression’. It’s not possible to pick and choose elements to carryover. It’s all or nothing.
The carryover process requires an IOI Account and can only be done through a web browser, it’s not possible to do it in-game. We will have the website ready to go before launch, but it is not live yet. Once it is ready, we will share the news via ioi.dk and update this post.
📷
Here’s more about how it will work:
– Progression can only be carried over from HITMAN 2, including progression you have from the Legacy Pack (HITMAN 1 locations within HITMAN 2).
– Progression can only be carried over from within the same platform. There are only three options:
HITMAN 2 (PlayStation) → HITMAN 3 (PlayStation) HITMAN 2 (Xbox) → HITMAN 3 (Xbox) HITMAN 2 (PC/Steam) → HITMAN 3 (PC/Epic)
Note: “PlayStation” = PS4, PS4 Pro and PS5. “Xbox” = Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X.
Essentially, it doesn’t matter what specific console you have earned progression on. It only matters that progression can only move forward and within the same console ‘family’.
– Progression carryover is a one-time process, meaning once you have performed a carryover for a particular platform, you will not be able to do so again at a later time.
– If you have played HITMAN 2 on multiple platforms, you CAN perform a carryover for EACH of those profiles, but only within the same platform, as listed above. For example, if you play H2 on Xbox and PlayStation, you can carryover your H2 Xbox progression into H3 Xbox and independently carryover your H2 PlayStation progress into H3 PlayStation.
– When you complete the carryover process, your existing HITMAN 2 progress will remain as it is (i.e it will not be removed/deleted). However, your progression in H2 and H3 will NOT be synchronised.
– If you have already started playing HITMAN 3 and THEN choose to perform the progression carryover process, you will lose all progression earned within HITMAN 3 up to that point. We recommend you carryover progress before starting HITMAN 3.
📷
What exactly will be carried over?
When you start the process, you will need to select an account that you have linked to your IOI Account. You will then be able to review the HITMAN 2 progress earned on that account and confirm that you want to perform the carryover process into HITMAN 3.
The following progression will be included in the carryover process: player profile, XP rank, location mastery levels, location mastery unlocks, challenge progress, challenge unlocks and Elusive Target suits/unlocks. Savegame files are not carried over.
Note that there are a small amount of items/unlocks that are not carried over through this process, such as the rewards unlocked through the HITMAN 1 GOTY Escalations, becuase they are linked to a purchase. Those items will be available in HITMAN 3 when you redeem access to the associated content. In addition, the ICA Electrocution Phone has been retired and will not be available in HITMAN 3.
HITMAN 3 on Stadia On Stadia, all progression that players have earned in Hitman: World of Assassination (from both H1 and H2) will automatically ‘carryover’ to HITMAN 3. For additional clarity, Stadia and PC are two different platforms and progress cannot be shared or carried over between them.
HITMAN 3 on Nintendo Switch Progression carryover is not possible on Nintendo Switch because HITMAN 2 is not available on that platform as a standalone game.

Access Pass FAQ

HITMAN 3 allows players to access locations from the previous games in the trilogy (H1 and H2) and play them all under one roof. Essentially, we have setup H1 and H2 as DLC for HITMAN 3. You can buy or redeem/download an Access Pass and get access to its content within H3. For example, if you buy the HITMAN 2 Standard Access Pass DLC for HITMAN 3, you’ll get access to the locations and missions included in the HITMAN 2 Standard Edition within HITMAN 3.
📷
In addition to the option of purchasing an Access Pass, it is also possible to redeem/download an Access Pass for no additional cost, if you have already purchased that content from the same store that you have pre-ordered or purchased HITMAN 3.
To make this happen, we detect what you already have installed for HITMAN 2 and can make the corresponding Access Pass available for no additional cost on the same store. Note: If you only own HITMAN 1, you will need to import that content into HITMAN 2 first, via the instructions in our Legacy Pack FAQ.
This process will work between console generations. For example, if you own HITMAN 2 on PS4, you’ll be able to download the HITMAN 2 Access Pass DLC in HITMAN 3 for both PS4 and PS5. The same applies for the Xbox family of consoles as well.
We know that’s a lot of information, but once you’ve seen all of the Access Pass options, and there are five in total, it will make more sense.
📷
HITMAN 1 GOTY Access Pass Includes: Locations and missions currently available in the HITMAN 1 GOTY Edition: ICA Facility, Paris, Sapienza, Marrakesh, Bangkok, Colorado, Hokkaido, 3x GOTY Escalations and rewards and 4x Patient Zero campaign missions

The price for this Access Pass will be listed as ‘free’ when you look for it in the store. – Disc: If you own a version of H1 on disc, you must follow the process in the Legacy Pack FAQ to access that content in HITMAN 2 – and then redeem this Access Pass.
– PC (Epic): If you pre-purchase or purchase HITMAN 3 on EGS within the first 10 days of launch, you will be granted the HITMAN 1 GOTY Access Pass for no additional charge. In addition, if you own or redeemed a free copy of HITMAN – The Complete First Season on EGS when it was available for free, you will be able to download this Access Pass at any time after purchasing HITMAN 3.

If you have redeemed that code, the price for this Access Pass will be listed as ‘free’ when you look for it in the store.
HITMAN 3 Access Pass on PC We’ve done everything possible to make this process smooth and player-friendly. However, due to various circumstances out of our control, we want to acknowledge that the process is different to our initial plans for PC players. We also want to share some of the initiatives we’ve set-up to make sure that PC players the chance to keep enjoying the benefits of the World of Assassination.
Our hope is that these initiatives help to ensure all HITMAN 3 PC players can able to enjoy the new game with full access to HITMAN 1 and their progression carried over as a minimum.
HITMAN 3 Access Pass on Stadia Due to the convenient set-up of HITMAN 1-3 on Stadia, the Access Pass system is not required. Players will continue to have access to the locations they already own through Hitman: World of Assassination, or can purchase the games that they don’t own through the Stadia Store.
HITMAN 3 Access Pass on Switch HITMAN 3 is the first game in the trilogy to be available on Switch. As such, each relevant Access Pass is available for purchase through the HITMAN 3 in-game store.

HITMAN VR

At launch, HITMAN 3 will support PS VR and all locations in the World of Assassination trilogy can be experienced in a new first-person perspective. Yes, that means you can traverse the outside of the tallest building in the (Hitman) world in PS VR! If you own the previous games from the trilogy on PS4, you can also access locations from them within HITMAN 3. That’s more than 20 Hitman locations from the World of Assassination trilogy to enjoy in PS VR.
📷
You can either play HITMAN 3 in PS VR natively on your PS4 or via backward compatibility on PS5. To make sure all PS VR owners can experience the game in VR, we’re including a free digital copy of the PS4 version of HITMAN 3 with all PS5 copies, whether you choose to buy it via disc or digital.
If you are playing on PS5, your progress between the PS4 (VR) and PS5 (non-VR) versions is shared between the two versions. You’ll be able to play the non-VR version of HITMAN 3 on PS5 with the next-gen improvements that we support (including Dual Sense support!) and then switch to the PS4 version for VR and all of your items and unlocks will be right there waiting for you. You will need to have both versions of the game installed on your PS5 to make that happen.
📷
Whether you play on PS4 or PS5, a DUALSHOCK®4 wireless controller is required to play HITMAN 3 in VR. Playing HITMAN 3 in VR on PS5 also requires a PlayStation Camera adaptor. For full details on the requirements for playing PS VR on your PS5, including how to order a free PlayStation Camera adaptor, see the official PlayStation PS VR site.

More to come

📷
We have got our sights firmly set on January 20 and our entire team is doing everything in our power to make the launch of HITMAN 3 as successful as possible. It’s an incredibly exciting time for us to be so close to releasing our next game, as well as deliver the dramatic conclusion to the World of Assassination trilogy.
Please keep the conversation going on Twitter, Discord, Reddit and in HitmanForum and be excellent to each other.
The World of Assassination awaits…

If you were hacked: *DO THIS* to contact support faster.

Hey everyone, I just wanted to share what I found was the easiest and fastest way to reach support after I had lost my main account.
I was unfortunately hacked yesterday. I have no idea how since I did not share any of my information, not even my UID. I used a unique password and I had my account linked with my Gmail account which has 2 step, authenticator and a unique password. I did not get an email or anything when the password and email was changed on my Genshin account. Which, I find very odd since it should have prompted a code sent to my email. Oh, also, I did not submit any of my info to that obvious phishing scam that was posted on the forums either. So, it's all a mystery to me.
** UPDATE **
I have recovered my account. Support was excellent and very responsive. It took about 8hrs or so average to get a response. Once I had provided all required information it only took 2 days to get my account back.
Im very surprised with how quickly they relied. I was expecting a major head ache but it was some of the best support I've ever received from an online company.
** UPDATE 2 **
Almost hacked again.. but how? (long update)
So, I'm a little concerned. When my account was recovered Mihoyo sent me a message through their web based support ticket system this is accessed by going to "feedback" in game and creating / viewing a ticket (as explained below). Nothing goes to your email etc it's all web based through the ticket system.
I was at work at the time they contacted me and had to wait until I got home to recover my account. Once I got home I logged in with the provided password and linked my mobile and email again (it was blanked out before adding). While I was doing this I was kicked to the main menu and it said I had logged in from another location. How? The password was just entered for the first time and it was provided directly from Mihoyo and it was a unique semi complex password. This makes no sense. So I quickly logged back in and changed the password before being booted again. This time it was secured. I sat in game without issue and did not get logged out. After about 30 minutes I logged out and tried logging in again to ensure it was still secure. I was timed out for 20 minutes due to exceeding password attempts. After a bit I got back in and I've had no issues since knock on wood.
But, my main concern is.. how did the person have access to that password provided to me by Mihoyo and only ever visible via their support ticket interface? I'm fairly knowledgeable when it comes to computers. Just to be safe I did a full virus, malware, Spyware etc check and there was nothing on my system. No loggers etc. My password was not saved in a web browser for autofill or anything like that. So, as you can see it's quite concerning and again, boggles my mind. Even the fact I was initially hijacked / hacked made no sense to me. Also my email is 2 step authentication via mobile and authenticator app is linked. So, before anyone asks my email is not compromised. But this info did not even pass through my email. Only the Mihoyo online ticket system.

ANYHOW,
The important part, If you get hacked and you need to contact support DO NOT use the email listed on the website. I did this and I've heard nothing back from the email support side. I know this will be the initial thing you want to do. But don't, instead..
-1 Load up the game.
-2 Login to a second account (or make a new one).
-3 Open the main menu once logged in to the game.
-4 Select FEEDBACK (Bottom right option).
-5 It will load a new page in your web browser.
-6 Look to the bottom left, you will see a PLUS ( + ) to the left of "Enter a query" click on the +.
-7 Then click on HISTORY.
-8 Then click on CONTACT CS.
-9 Make your title something like "My Main Account Was Hacked, Please Help"
*NOTE*
To view the status of your ticket go through steps 1-7 and you will see your active ticket there. You will NOT receive an email or any notification when they respond. So be sure to check back once and awhile for activity.

Once you've done this include as much information as you can:
** *Having your transaction history is VITAL. Search your email and get a list of all transaction and screen shot it. You can attach pictures. Send all transaction #'s, date of purchase, etc. My transaction data was emailed since I purchased via Google PlayStore, if you did it via the app or website you may need to get transactions from your bank / credit card history. Make sure to tell them to unlink the hackers email and mobile. * **

- UID
- USERNAME
- Email Address (if it has been changed tell them! So they unlink it, same as mobile.)
- Character name (Search your UID in friends list and get the hacked name, etc)
- Birthday you selected (This cannot be changed, I strongly suggest you set one)
- Date you created your account and what platform you created it on. (PC or Mobile)
- What platform you primarily played on.
- AR before hack (current AR of account after hack)
- Info about your main characters you used, which ones, what level, what constellation, weapon etc.
- Purchases you've made (Battle Pass, Welkin, etc)
- If you hit 30 on Battle Pass, what weapon you chose.
- How many Primo Gems you had approx.
- Anything else that's very specific to your account that you can provide to prove it is your account.
- Again, transactions will be the most important thing.

My one concern is, if you are fully F2P and you've never made a transaction this could be more difficult. I'd almost be inclined to suggest making a small purchase just so you have a transaction on the account. I don't know how it would be handled if there were not any so maybe it's not required? Just be aware.

I submitted a ticket this way and I had a response within 8hrs (American Server). I had to follow up and I even had a response to my follow up within a few hours of that. I should hopefully have my account back very soon based on those discussions.
** IMPORTANT **
If you submit all info and they tell you it's been forwarded to the required team etc etc. It will take a couple days from that point. To avoid having your ticket auto close due to inactivity send a message each day that just days something like "just sending a message so my ticket doesn't auto close". I've been getting some DMs about tickets timing out and closing while waiting.

I hope this helps, please be sure to take as many steps as you can to secure your account. Make sure you have a unique password and link your email and mobile if possible.

Link your email / mobile number:
- Login to the game
- Go to the main menu
- Go to Settings
- Account
- User Center
- Here you can link email, mobile, etc.
Once linked you will need to access your mobile or email to get a code in order to make major changes to your account. Such as changing the password, email, mobile etc.

Good luck and be safe!

Pay to play is crap, and making things crapper.

Someone posted this https://www.reddit.com/roll20LFG/comments/l9ssc2/why_pay_to_play/
So I am going to dispute it in a new post so it doesn't get lost in the comments. This will be his bullet point in [brackets] then my counter-argument. (ps no one is infallible so I may be wrong too)
[Charging a modest per-person fee virtually eliminates player no-shows.]
First calling it a "modest fee" is trying to dismiss or lower the perceived negative of charging people. The very attempt showing the OP knows its negatives.
And secondly, there is no getting around the fact that you are making people pay you to play a game with you. You are adding a monetary investment when it's supposed to be character, story, the group's investment that keeps players coming back. Perhaps that means you skimp on the things that would keep a player investment because of this, maybe not. (it would certainly incentives DM's who just want to "tell a story" to do just that thus lowering DnD's quality)
[ The small fee also ensures that everyone in the group is committed to the session.]
AGAIN, they should be committed because they want to be there, because it's fun...
[The maturity level is exponentially higher in paid games.]
Probably, because most people aren't will to pay money to troll, so this would be a plus to you and those who charge, but a negative to those who don't. Who do you think ends up with a new less mature base of players. (if this maturity thing is really a thing and not just older people who just whip out their wallet.) It's almost gatekeeping the good players out of regular play and if true would make it significantly harder to get into the hobby. Which if you go onto the roll20 lfg thing now it is because of all the paid stuff.
[People don't abandon the group and quit the campaign when something doesn't go their way.]
again, this has to do with investment in the story and characters and says more about you as a DM than about the goodness of making so many people making games pay to play. Also its pay per game, there is nothing stopping them from just not paying for the next one unless you are using the sunk in cost fallacy to keep your players around which is morally questionable.
[ The gaming experience provided by a professional DM is eminently more enjoyable than what you get in a free game. ]
Well, this is just silly. Do you think Matt Mercer charges his friends to play lol. A DM's ability to make an enjoyable game is not correlated at all to how much they charge. if so I should charge a million bucks a game and I'll suddenly be amazing lol. Fake it to you make it baby.
[ Expect material costs associated with running a top-shelf game to be covered. Roll20 charges fees for the token, map, and card collections associated with each module. ]
This one has some merit other than the top shelf thing which associates once again money to quality of content. (maybe I'm reading too much into it) p.s. I've had the most fun with "truly open-world" off-the-cuff bullshit but that's just me.
Anyway, you can ask a player group you have to cover some of the costs of a new module, I don't really see anything wrong with that. Expecting the DM to cover 95% of the costs of the game is a little...
[ Expect pro membership from the DM, ensuring that players have access to all of the extras, including D&D 5e Compendium integration, API scripts, dynamic lighting, and plenty of storage. ]
A DM that is getting paid may indeed have more motivation to put more effort into the game. (unless this sentence only references buying more stuff then look to my previous line) BUT, you claim the fee is modest. So how motivated are they to really put in that much more effort. It's a moot point. either you're being paid enough to make it a job and it's not a modest fee anymore. OR they aren't really being paid enough to increase the quality that much. (your mileage may vary on dif DMS on this one)
[ Reasonable to expect custom-designed tokens for your characters if requested. ]
Not sure what this means, are they a concept artist on the cheap, or are they just getting a picture from the web and making it a circle. If its the circle thing I really don't think this gets even close to justifying making people pay to play a game with you, but I'll keep going down the list to see otherwise.
[ Reasonable to expect extra help for beginners. ]
True, it is reasonable to expect that. You are paying them to play the game with you, the least you can expect is for them to teach you how to play it. If you're new it may be a good idea to pay for a game or two. (again I would still say this effect is limited to how much they are being paid but still)
[Reasonable to expect an immersive experience that includes advanced role-play techniques, animated effects, and completely original game materials that aren't available anywhere else.]
Where to start on this one. What is the modest amount you would pay someone to go to all this extra stuff if they weren't going to do it otherwise? again immersive has to do with DM skill which again is not linked to the price tag. There is no DM school No DM certificate of competency. Nor is there a standard level of skill across the hundred-year-old profession of DMing. (sarcasm)
Original game materials that aren't available anywhere else lol. is there a magical land for DM's running paid games where you have to give them your ticket scamming players to get access to their vault of original game materials. (again sarcasm)
[Reasonable to expect some or most of the dues to be channeled back into the game you're playing in the form of assets, compendiums, and potentially even custom artwork or authoring. ]
You really do think that paid dms are modestly priced concept artists don't you. And not only that are completely dismissive of all the work regular DM's put into their games by saying it only exists in the sweet sweet paid content land of bullshit.
they also repeat an above "pro" about putting the money back into the game which is just saying the players are paying for the modules too. so whatev, same answer. You can ask your players to chip in to a new rulebook or whatever for you to run them ok.
[ In person games are different but this is the online D&D world of 2021. ]
This wasn't a dot point but I'm obviously tired now and less than friendly so I had to add it. Really its 2021, tell me how that changes your morality world view and everything else because you base it entirely on what you're told you NPC. god damn. when is the "its 20XX" thing gona die it only makes you look like a sheep.
[ The rate of players ghosting me has dropped from 40-50% to about 5% ]
Lol I was about to post when I saw this little gem at the end. way to announce that no one wants to play with you lol.
-edit for all those calling this a shitpost feel free to add a counter-argument at the end of the insult. also if you think doing the DM "work" is so much "work" that you deserve to be paid for it, then maybe you should switch hobbies. or play as a PC. (isn't the work building one of the fun parts of being a DM or am I just nuts)
-edit 2 I've been watching the like ratio of this post for a day and its stuck on 0 for me. (checked different browsers to double check) so this is a perfectly controversial topic lol. 50% of people agree while the other 50% do not. So does this mean the community has voted against paid games.
I would say yes. And before anyone goes it's littery 50/50 I will say. "what mechanic would survive the game that half the player base hated?" or disliked. my post is more or the extreme end of negativity of paid games and still has 50/50, if I reworded this post to be more sunshine and rainbows then I wonder what the ratio would be.

Experiencing Internet Connection Issues At Home - Need Help/Advice

Hi,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask such a question for tech/internet problems, but even so any help is greatly appreciated! :)
I’ve been recently experiencing internet issues at home. Just some background, I live with a few other family members. Some of us use internet on a consistent basis, and some of us even work from home now because of the pandemic, which of course means more internet usage than in the previous couple of year. Our internet usage is not too extensive – it includes things such as watching TV/streaming, playing video games online, regular web browsing, and Facetime/Zoom calls with family. Of course week days during the day have the most usage as some of us work from home as mentioned previously. We keep our modem on the main floor in a central area as with many family members and devices it’s just not practical to have wired connections for everything.
Recently, within the last couple of months we noticed that our internet is not as strong as it used to be. Certain places in the house experience the internet buffering for long periods of time or completely disconnecting – usually on the upper floor, sometimes in the basement. I find that this usually happens the most at night for whatever reason when most users are just either streaming (YouTube, Netflix, etc.) or playing video games. To give an example, during the pandemic me and a few friends have frequent virtual hang out nights. We connect on Discord and chat and sometimes play online games to catch up. The other night I got disconnected various times – even my web browser was not working. Another example, when streaming Netflix or watching YouTube, often the videos stop and take a few mins to load to catch up or we get disconnected altogether. And to confirm - this does not happen on one device but rather various devices – laptops, phones, etc. Of course this usually happens during times of entertainment and fun, but my fear is that this will start occurring during the work day when we are working from home.
To get to my questions: I’ve been looking into ways to resolve the problem. Rebooting the modem works sometimes, but it’s more a temporary fix more than anything. Our current internet package is “fibre connection – 50Mbps download speed, with up tp 10mbps”. We can upgrade to 100mbps .. but my issue is I am not sure if increasing the Mbps will resolve this issue or not. I have also looked into range extenders but again I am not 100% sure if these actually work – there are also so many brands at different price ranges that it is hard to make a choice. With this in mind, I would definitely appreciate any help from those who are more knowledgeable with internet issues than I am. Would increasing the mbps help (with many devices would higher mbps help), would a range extender work – if so any brands you can recommend? (If a range extender is the issue, hoping to get something at a reasonable price).
Thanks! Any help is appreciated! :)

[META] Welcome to r/r4r! Please read this before doing anything else!

Hello and welcome to /r4r! If you're confused about where you've landed, this is the gist of this place - "r4r" stands for "redditor for redditor" and is meant to be the de facto Reddit community for people meeting people for almost anything. That's fellow students, dating, playing music together, marriage prospects, penpals, playing board games, hookups, movie/tv-watching, sharing poetry, FWBs, celebrity gossip, video games, sports talk, meme-sharing, etc etc etc. There ARE rules, however, and everybody is expected to follow them.
For those that can't see the sidebar, visit https://old.reddit.com/r4r in your web browser to take a look. The rules are copied below and expanded on somewhat since the sidebar space is limited.

Rule 1

This subreddit is 18+. If you are under eighteen do not post, comment, or PM OPs. This rule is required of us by the admins for liability reasons. Lying about your age if you’re under 18 will result in a permanent ban.

Rule 2

No phone numbers or email addresses may be shared in public. No surveys, forms, or other information-harvesting activities. This rule previously also excluded usernames for any service of any kind, but the admins have lightened up on this definition recently so the rule has been updated to reflect this. We still recommend against sharing this information in public, as it will be much more difficult to connect scammers/catfish/etc. to their Reddit accounts when communicating via non-Reddit platforms.

Rule 3

Exchanges for money, goods, or services, are strictly prohibited. This includes, and is not limited to, any of the "sugar" lifestyle ads, offers for free trips, lessons, tutoring, webpage design, gaming, cam performances, etc. If you are doing something in exchange for something else, it will most likely fall in this rule. Please contact the modstaff for clarification or questions.

Rule 4

Sexism, racism, homophobia, ad hominem posts, or rudeness will not be tolerated. Keep it civil and respectful.

Rule 5

No SPAM is allowed. SPAM includes advertising of any kind other than a personal ad. You are allowed to post to the subreddit once, and only once, per 24-hour period. This includes deleted and resubmitted posts for any reason other than automod removal upon initial posting (not edits). This is to prevent users from trying to game the algorithm Reddit uses to stick on the front page of the subreddit. First frequency offense will earn a minimum 24-hour ban, additional offenses will earn longer bans.

Rule 6

If you know your post contains NSFW or suggestive language (you know when it does), then please tag it as such. This rule is a courtesy rule, because although the subreddit is 18+, we are not an explicit subreddit (like gonewild, etc). You have the option once your post is submitted to tag as NSFW, if you know it contains NSFW material (pictures or text) and can't tag, PM the modstaff and we can tag for you. Anything sexually suggestive falls in this category. Adding "NSFW" to your title or post body will also engage automatic tagging. Conversely, if the bot auto-tags your post based on keywords and it is not unsafe for work, you may remove the tag yourself without contacting the mod team.

Rule 7

If you have an issue on the subreddit, use the report button or contact the moderators. This includes not leaving comments on posts where you see a problem. Preventing defamation is the biggest driver for this rule.

Rule 8

If you do not agree with a post, ignore it and move on. r4r isn't a discussion forum (except for META posts) and expressing disagreement doesn't add value to anything on this subreddit. Everyone is entitled to their preferences and you don't have to share your own in public if it's not your post.

Rule 9

No posting on behalf of another without sending proof of consent to the mods first. Because this situation is rather unusual, the mods will often require person verification of the person being posted on behalf of.

Rule 10

Accounts must have 10+ karma and be 48+ hours old to participate. Post titles must include the author's true, exact age at the time of posting. Post titles must include at least the author’s time zone, but ideally also a geographic location no less specific than country. Adding "/Anywhere" or "/Online" after your location is acceptable to indicate to readers that you’re seeking outside your area. Content must be primarily English. These requirements work together to reduce SPAM and catfishing.
The titles of submissions must be properly formatted or they will be deleted. The format for post titles is:
[] - <br /> "r4r" denotes your gender and preference.<br /> <strong>Examples:</strong><br /> <em>21 [M4F] Arkansas - Looking for a friend</em><br /> <em>26 [F4R] Canada/Anywhere - I want a gamer buddy and somebody to chat with</em><br /> <em>30/29 [FM4FM] Australia - Married couple looking for roleplay with another married couple.</em><br /> <table><thead> <tr> <th>Tag</th> <th>Meaning</th> </tr> </thead><tbody> <tr> <td>M</td> <td>Male</td> </tr> <tr> <td>F</td> <td>Female</td> </tr> <tr> <td>T</td> <td>Transgender</td> </tr> <tr> <td>R</td> <td>Redditor / All</td> </tr> </tbody></table> <h3>Rule 11</h3> Low effort posts including, but are not limited to, posts with no body will be removed at moderator discretion. Posts must contain 100+ words, 2 conversation starters, and distinguishing info about the author (links and meta about the post itself don't count). This rule was created in response to, and has been tuned specifically based on, community feedback from readers who want to get the feel for who an OP is as a person before contacting them. Attempts to "fill out" a post with non-distinguishing info will result in temporary bans.<br /> <h3>Rule 12</h3> No advertising groups or communities. Some of them aren't always appropriate, and sometimes they're used to farm usernames. Posts whose purpose is to "build" a group or community also fall under this rule. Check out our official <a href="?nw=3768">R4R Discord Server</a> if you're interested in a group conversation.<br /> <h> <strong>Moderators reserve the right to remove posts and/or ban users upon their discretion</strong><br /> If you have any questions, feel free to reach out via modmail.<br /> </div> submitted by <a href="?nw=1983"> Hextreme42 </a> to <a href="?nw=1352"> r4r </a> <span><a href="?nw=7067">[link]</a></span> <span><a href="?nw=7218">[comments]</a></span></p> <h5>My name is ..... and I have an addiction.</h5> <p><div class="md">I want to write out my problem, I need to let it out. Up until now I have had a few friends who I could talk to but I can't bring myself to talk about it. I have tried many times before but here lies my final attempt to turn my life around. <br /> I grew up in a small town, where everyone knows everyone and every teen goes to the one and only highschool. Sex was always a taboo topic in my hometown. If anyone dated anyone, there was little to no chance of dating anyone else without being shunned and cast out as sleazy, even if it didn't include deep intimacy.<br /> I was never really good a connecting with my male peers as I had no knowledge of sports or AAA gaming such as COD or Halo. We grew up playing nintendo and my father was a farmer uninterested in sports. <br /> What I was good at was at making friends with my female peers, because quite frankly I lived for drama, suspense, and above all gossip. I had a heavy interest in females, at no point in my life did I have interest in males.<br /> From a young age I can remember having dreams with a much more sexual nature than 'normal'. I can recall having a crush on females all the way to kindergarten, around 5 years old.<br /> My first foray into any kind of material was an ecyclopedia. That had alot of information about it all. Even if I couldn't read all the big words, pictures defined more than I could imagine.<br /> Our family had a computer early on, I think maybe 1st grade. Back then computers were still relatively new and google wasn't as popular, we used ask jeeves. That was when I had my first opportunity to understand what sex and anatomy were all about. I would spend so much time asking Jeeves simple questions. When google and yahoo grew I ditched the questions and would google image search anything and everything that popped into my head.<br /> My problem was never really a problem as I never got in trouble in school and I was gifted with vast knowledge, due to my prevalent internet access, I could learn all day about anything.<br /> In 2008 the DSi came out and I now had my own mobile browser. In 2010 I was the first to get a smartphone in my family as they were just coming out, motorola backflip. I grew up with easy and private access to the internet whether it was on my nintendo DSi or my smartphone.<br /> My problem only grew as I spent more and more time on the web. Again it never really interfered with my school or social life as I was able to abstain from it while I was out of the house.<br /> It then manifested into something much darker than browsing. As in middle school I had began to read erotic literature. From there my thoughts all had some sense of sexual nature. Even then I had not seen it as a problem, merely a secret to keep to myself. <br /> Around that time a female was being ridiculed for having had intercourse with a high schooler. Everyone knew who, what, when, where, and how. <br /> This only further cemented the idea that I had a problem but I can not speak of it to anyone.<br /> When I started dating in highschool I had a normal relationship, but that quickly went out the window when my problem led to infidelity at a highschool level. <br /> Fast forward to me leaving home at 18 yrs and heading to a big city where you did not matter to those around you unless you were in their way. Here you could stand alone and blend with society. My problem was minimized as I no longer had to worry about other's criticisms.<br /> I began to focus on work and my problem had seemed to have disappeared all together. I no longer fell into that hole. I remember looking back and thinking, It was becuase i was teen with teen hormones.<br /> I then met partner, everything was perfect. My problem was not a problem and my drive was welcomed with my partner. As time went on our intimacy levels dropped as we got accustomed to each other and I finally felt at peace. I had found Love.<br /> I soon destroyed it, we had a child and it was taking a toll on the both of us. The stress was at an all time high, and our love for one another was nowhere to be found. Our loyalty and support remained but as my partner had their own burdens of stress and anxiety I seeked comfort on my own. Money was a huge problem and to stay afloat I seeked extra work, to provide for my family. Doing overtime and working on the weekends was heavy for me. Staying at home and raising our childwas heavy for my partner. <br /> At my second job I received an offer, a quid pro quo. Having read and seen all about this type of thing I tried to justify as a means of providing for my family. I put up a facade on both ends, I was lying to my partner and my boss. I then eventually got comfortable with the fact and accepted it. <br /> I ended up leaving my partner as a way to break a vicous and unforgiving cycle. I act suspicious ‐> we fight -> I leave the house -> we fight -> I leave the house... so on and so on until I break after months on end. I decide to come clean and confirm my partner's suspicions. I leave my partner to be on my own but immediately crash into emotional despair as I cannot be alone. I find someone new but all they while my heart and desire reside with the mother of my children. <br /> I get lost in the idea and felt there was no turning back. I fall deeper and deeper into the abyss. <br /> I reached out to someone I now call my friend. He tells me, to disregard all that to go back and be with my family. <br /> I finally let it all go and take the leap, I request forgiveness. I finally have everything working out for me. <br /> Except my addiction beckons, this time after so much infidelity I turn to material online. As I thought it would keep me safe. This then becomes a mere pornography addiction. It becomes more and more ingrained in my head and start to spend money on it. I start to stash and collect it. <br /> One day my partner comes accross it and is infuriated, they do not take it very well. I understand that I would not appreciate if the situation was flipped, but once I am confronted I request to be pardoned as I am trying to improve. <br /> I then minimize all of my material and leaving behind my stash attempting to delete what I can find. Of course not having all my eggs in one basket there are remnants left behind. <br /> My attempt now is improving as I had stopped momentarily but with monkey brain growing. I began to look at pornagraphy yet again. As I get caught again I apologize and declare that I am trying to quit and leave it all behind.<br /> We arrived to current time, I have stopped watching full material but alas lewd, but not pornographic, has my partner doubting in my efforts once again.<br /> My end goal is to drop it all. It is tearing my partner and I apart.<br /> I write this here in hopes of keeping me focused on the task at hand.<br /> TL;DR I grew up with alot of pornography, it elvoved into making me a womanizer. It tore my family apart. I have minimized my problem into just watching pornography, but that is not enough for me or my partner, I need to drop any and all sorts of infidelity.<br /> If you have read this far I thank you, as today I reflect on my problems and remind myself, I can do better for my family that I truly love.<br /> As for my SO...if you come across this just know I cannot give up on, My love for you is real. I genuinely care about your happiness and health. My problem stands between us but I see improvement with myself everyday for a better tomorrow.<br /> </div> submitted by <a href="?nw=3706"> bottledabortion </a> to <a href="?nw=9480"> NoFap </a> <span><a href="?nw=260">[link]</a></span> <span><a href="?nw=6507">[comments]</a></span></p> <h5>[PC][early 2000s] multiplayer top-down shooter.</h5> <p><div class="md">This is such a vague memory, I'm sorry. I stumbled upon this subreddit not long ago and have enjoyed the commentary and experiences everyone's shared. Wanted to add another perspective from a mid-30s first-gen American. I've had some missteps regarding careers and finances, but I feel like I'm in a slightly better place now. I tried YNAB in the past but I wasn't consistent enough with it. These days I use Mint to monitor my finances and have a "Finance Friday" each month to review all my accounts and spending. I currently live with my partner TJ and his dog RR. We do not combine finances, but he has been unemployed since March. I have helped him with some bills and basic necessities here and there until he finds his next job or career. <br /> My current financial goals are to just maintain a status quo and not get any debt until pandemic times are over. Then I will focus on a house remodeling fund and savings for taking care of my parents.<br /> <strong><em>Growing up, what kind of conversations did you have about money? Did your parent/guardian(s) educate you about finances?</em></strong> My parents taught us about money from a frugal perspective. They are immigrants who worked in food service/factories. There was always this “save save save” mentality. Even when they started their own small business, we saved like there was no tomorrow. In high school, my calculus teacher bought us all “The Millionaire Next Door” book and had us read it as an assignment - that was my first structured introduction to finances.<br /> <strong><em>Did you worry about money growing up?</em></strong> No, there was always food on the table and a roof over our heads. I knew that our extended family would support us if needed.<br /> <strong><em>Was there an expectation for you to attend higher education? Did you participate in any form of higher education? If yes, how did you pay for it?</em></strong> Yes. My dad didn’t finish the high school-equivalent in their country, while my mom did finish high school, but no college. My older and younger siblings took a different path in life after high school. I am the first and only in my family to graduate from college. My parents covered all tuition for my two bachelor degrees with the agreement that I support them fully during their retirement and send them gifts/extra money whenever I can. I feel very lucky and privileged that they were able to provide that education for me.<br /> <strong><em>At what age did you become financially responsible for yourself and do you have a financial safety net?</em></strong> 24 when I went on a work holiday abroad. My family was always available to help when needed, but the experience abroad helped me stand on my own feet. As an adult, I also inherited that “save” mentality and put a lot of my earnings towards savings. I didn’t date until my 30s, lived frugally, didn’t go out to eat/hangout with people, shopped thrift stores, and had very few hobbies. I am starting to “live a little” now though.<br /> <strong><em>Do you or have you ever received passive or inherited income?</em></strong> Aside from the tuition, my parents have helped with a down payment for my first house and living costs during periods of unemployment.<br /> <br /> <strong>Section One: Assets and Debt</strong><br /> <strong>Retirement Balance</strong><br /> If the place I was working at offered a 401k, I would always contribute up to the company match. I started to pick up free exercise equipment from Craigslist this year, so we have a small garage gym now and utilize YouTube exercise videos instead.<br /> <strong>Pet expenses:</strong> $10/month. TJ has stockpiled some Costco canned dog food before unemployment, but once that runs out I will likely cover the costs. We also started to make homemade dog food to help supplement.<br /> <strong>Car insurance:</strong> $460 every 6 months. Car is paid off.<br /> <strong>Regular therapy:</strong> I will start in the new year. Not sure what the costs are yet, but I will use my HSA to pay.<br /> <strong>Vitamins/Medications:</strong> $20/month<br /> <strong>Groceries & household items:</strong> $75/month<br /> <strong>Miscellaneous (eating out, house purchases, gifts, etc):</strong> $100/month<br /> <br /> <strong>Section Four: Money Diary</strong><br /> <strong>Monday</strong><br /> 6:30am Neighbor starts up their truck. We joke that it's our natural alarm clock. They idle for about 15 minutes before heading off. I go back to bed.<br /> 9am My real alarm goes off. I put the electric kettle on for some morning tea. While it's boiling, I do my morning routine: drink glass of water, take synthroid, use bathroom, brush teeth, quick shower. I then make tea - Jasmine Pearl English Breakfast with dark forest mix. I started ordering loose leaf tea in large amounts back in March instead of small bags or single serving packets. Seems more economical since I drink it daily. I let the dog out into the backyard so he can do his morning routine.<br /> 9:30am I go through my daily tasks for work. They entail checking processes and reports to make sure they ran successfully overnight. I then answer some emails and catch-up on Slack channels.<br /> 12pm Lunch is leftover roast chicken and quinoa from Saturday. I heat it up in the instant pot. Love that thing! Almost every meal of ours involves the instant pot. We hardly use the stovetop. We then walk the dog to the business park across from our neighborhood. There's a very short trail that runs along a drainage creek by the business park. It's quite muddy, but has a nice woodsy feeling. Over the summer, we saw sumac trees there as well. Free sumac spice!<br /> 1:30pm Department meeting on Zoom. Our director announces his resignation on the call. Everyone is shocked! Layoffs were announced for next year but this was not a part of it. I think it's a good move for him and he doesn't have to have this worry of layoffs over his head.<br /> 3pm I meet with an engineer from another team and talk about a data source they are in charge of. He helps me out in understanding it and we identify most of the fields that I need for a project I’m starting.<br /> 5:30pm I check in with my partner. He's been watching LinkedIn tutorials on internal recruiting, job coaching and general computeoffice skills. It's a career change that he wants to make - something where he can talk to and help people. He doesn't have a bachelor's, only an associates, and hopes these tutorials will get him a leg up in the job search. I sent him some entry level HR admin roles the other day and remind him to apply. I then heat up leftovers: homemade chana masala and rice. I add some butter and coconut milk to thin it out, so there's enough for both of us.<br /> 10:30pm I take some magnesium, vitamin D and Airborne. I say goodnight to the dog who sleeps in the office. Then I say goodnight to TJ. He sleeps in the spare bedroom on weeknights due to his snoring keeping me up. I'm a light sleeper while he is a pretty deep sleeper.<br /> Daily total: $0<br /> <strong>Tuesday</strong><br /> 9am I check Reddit Secret Santa. My match seems like a really good person. Not sure what to get, but most likely will purchase something off their wishlist. I wish I was more creative with my gift giving.<br /> 11am Meeting with business stakeholder. She submitted a few changes to an existing data process about a month ago. I make the change while on the call and have her test. Success! Marking it off the todo list. I love when we can finish things directly on a call.<br /> 12:30pm I come out of my office to make lunch. I notice my partner is not home. I check my messages and see that he's stepped out to pick up a few things. I ask for celery, carrots, and kombucha. $17. I make a quick charcuterie board for lunch: Costco salami, cheese, homemade hummus and Triscuits. It's a simple, fast meal that’s always in our rotation.<br /> 2pm My partner is back and we take the dog out for a walk and quick round of disc golf at a nearby park. We mask up and play only a few holes. Disc golf is a pretty frugal activity, you only need 2-3 discs to get started. TJ remarks that my throws are getting better, but then again they weren't great to start with. We talk about Christmas/Birthday gifts on the way back home since he was born on New Years Day. He mentioned snowshoeing but asked to not spend that much. I'll do some research!<br /> 5pm I think about personal career projects. Should I put up a portfolio of projects somewhere? I decide to try and pull some Yelp data. There’s not a lot of data points that I was interested in. Regardless, I tinker with it for an hour. TJ asks if I'm hungry. I said not so much, but felt thirsty. Maybe some ginger soup tonight?<br /> 7:30pm Dinner is served - ginger carrot soup made in the instant pot. We eat some rice crackers with it. Lately I feel like we've been eating more vegetarian dinners. It definitely helps stretch our food budget. We end the evening by finishing Fargo season 3 on Hulu.<br /> Daily total: $17<br /> <strong>Wednesday</strong><br /> 1:30am I'm woken up by the dog. He's been sneezing a lot and wheezes at random intervals. TJ doesn't have the money for a vet visit but I've offered to pay as long as he calls to make the appointment. I give the dog some coconut oil, rub his belly until he seems better and go back to bed.<br /> 7am Garbage day. We usually put it out the night before but I forgot. I get up to go, but TJ handles it. I think, at least. I'm too sleepy to pay attention and go back to bed.<br /> 9am I wake up and rinse some dishes that have piled up and put them into the dishwasher. We both grew up in households that had a home dishwasher, but forbade from using it. It was drilled into us that hand washing saves more water, unless you had a restaurant/industrial dishwasher. I think with modern home dishwashers, that's changed, so I wanted to try it out with our dishwasher and monitor the water bill. Don't have any dishwashing pods or powder, so I put some OxiClean in it.<br /> 12:30pm I overhear TJ on a call with a recruiting agency. It seems to be going well, lots of laughing. I heat up some taco lasagna that I freezer meal-prepped last month.<br /> 2pm Collaborate on a project at work with an engineer. My manager put me on this project since I was asking for an assignment on a more technical team. I'm learning tidbits here and there, but I don't feel like it's structured enough.<br /> 5pm I do an Orangetheory-At-Home workout and try to break a sweat. It's not the same as going to their studio.<br /> 6pm Charcuterie for dinner. Our fridge is full of store-bought and homemade pickles that go super well on a charcuterie board.<br /> Daily total: $0<br /> <strong>Thursday</strong><br /> 7am I wake up tired. The house has been feeling more cold, which woke me up a few times. We keep the temp at 72F during the day, at night around 68F since we thought the bedrooms keep the heat in pretty well. My mistake!<br /> 9am I do my usual morning routine and login to work. My team mostly spends the morning sending each other emojis.<br /> 11:30am Lunch today is mini quiche, frozen chicken and veggie entree, and hot dogs. Not the most cohesive meal, but it fills the belly.<br /> 12:30pm TJ heads out to his mailbox that's 30 minutes away. He is still waiting on his tax return and a 401k withdrawal. His taxes had to be filed by mail for some reason, then the IRS office shut down due to COVID. So he wanted to see if it arrived yet at the mailbox. He also takes the dog to the vet's urgent care on his way. They didn't have any regular openings available until the end of the year, and the dog seemed to be getting worse. I give TJ $40 to mail a gift package to a friend in France and also reiterate that I'll cover the vet bill when he gets it.<br /> 4:30pm I pay some bills, my favorite activity (<em>not</em>)! Sewer bill: $59.44 (billed every 2 months). Geico bill: $459.60 billed every 6 months. Then I follow up with my mortgage officer over email. I had sent her some documents for a refinance quote last week, but haven't heard back. Rates keep dropping, so I'm told, but what does that really mean? I do some research on <a href="?nw=6783">realestate</a>.<br /> 5pm TJ messages me and says he'll be back for dinner. I ask him to pick up some Popeyes via drive thru since we both don't feel like cooking today. Popeyes is currently our fancy “going out to eat” food. $24.17 for a 4pc dinner meal and a 2pc dinner meal.<br /> Daily total: $583.21<br /> <strong>Friday</strong><br /> 8:30am Busy morning at work. My phone is buzzing with emails and Slack messages. I try to answer them while I make tea.<br /> 10am Zoom Department happy hour. We reminisce about our director and then play those Jackbox party games. Some of them are hard!<br /> 11am TJ asks if he can make me anything for lunch. He suggests savory oatmeal, quick and easy. I tell him that I really appreciate him making meals/doing chores/etc without me prompting. We've been having conversations about "house project management" and mental load because I did most of the chores or I had to continually remind/tell him to do it. I'm really happy to see us progress on this front. I decide to work through my lunch break so I can end the day early. I don't often do that, but I'm ready to get the weekend started.<br /> 2pm I check on TJ in the spare bedroom and ask if the dog has been fed yet, since he was nipping at my feet. I notice something off about TJ and ask how he is doing. TJ is depressed about his personal life, career, finances. He doesn't know what to do, spends half the day meditating and reflecting on past trauma. I've been prodding him to get a therapist but he is confused about his insurance. He makes an appointment with a primary care doctor first. I feed the dog some homemade dog-friendly beef stew.<br /> 4pm My mom swings by the house (but doesn't enter). She currently works at a school who distributes free USDA food boxes since March. There's often many boxes leftover that would go to waste, so she will grab a box for us. Onions, potatoes, beets, turnips, eggs, cheese, butter, frozen veggies and frozen chicken. She also brought her vintage pasta maker. I asked last week if she ever used it these days and her reply was “no, feel free to have it”. I love pasta and noodles and figure it would be great to make it ourselves as a frugal hobby.<br /> 8pm We catch up on Mandalorian and watch silly Youtube videos before heading off to bed.<br /> Daily total: $0<br /> <strong>Saturday</strong><br /> 9am I open up my web browser and look at Craigslist and NextDoor for free stuff. I've been scouring for free landscape rocks, pegboards, and wood for house projects. I had this grand ambition to redesign our backyard. It faces our neighbor and currently the fence is pretty low. They can see into our kitchen and bedroom and we can see them. But y'know, COVID and going from dual income house to single income means it all has to be put on hold. So I've been looking for free items in the meantime. Over the past months, I've gotten planter pots, plant cuttings, a raised bed, stepping stones, all from free listings. I don't see anything worthwhile so I go and make some tea.<br /> 11am I look at Amazon and make some purchases for Reddit Secret Santa. A foodie kit, DVD of their favorite movie, and some cute pens for their writing hobby. $54. I hope they like it!<br /> 12pm TJ heats up leftover stir-fry for lunch for us. I put on some Binging with Babish and we watch how to make pasta. We have a plan - TJ makes the pasta, I make the sauce. Perfect date night activity at home. We watch some more videos on pasta and noodles to educate ourselves.<br /> 4pm I start prepping veggies. Big batch of onions, canned tomatoes, ground beef and butter in the instant pot. Meanwhile, TJ works on the pasta by following Babish's instructions.<br /> 7pm We gorge on fresh made pasta and bolognese sauce. It's so good! We end up watching Fargo.<br /> 11pm Usually I'll be in bed by now, but it's a Saturday and not tired yet (probably because of all that pasta). We play some Kirby's Dream Course on the Switch.<br /> Daily total: $54<br /> <strong>Sunday</strong><br /> 10am Quick walk around the neighborhood with the dog. He's on a new routine now with the medicine he's taking. It seems to be helping his breathing issues.<br /> 11am The pasta maker and flour is still out since we didn't clean up yesterday. There's some old pie crust in the fridge so I roll it out with the pasta machine for mini quiches. (Sally's Baking Addiction blog is my go-to place for her all-butter crust and quiche recipes btw). TJ helps by mixing up the eggs.<br /> 3pm I play some Genshin Impact (GI) on my phone while TJ plays Starcraft in the office. I don't usually play gacha games, but the Zelda BotW-style of GI appealed to me. A gacha game is a game with randomized characteitem boxes that you use real-money to purchase a “pull” or to spin the wheel. I know the gacha parts of the game can be a real money sink if you get addicted to them, it’s almost like gambling. My main team is Fischl, Bennett, Barbara and Noelle. I level up to AR 22 and look up free-to-play tutorials for the game.<br /> 6pm There's some leftover pasta from yesterday, enough for both of us. I throw in some roasted beets to round out the meal. We watch more Fargo while eating. Almost done with Season 3!<br /> 10pm I find a tour operator who offers a small, socially-distant snowshoeing tour up on the mountain. I reserve for two people - this will be TJ's Christmas/birthday gift. $75. Off to bed for another workday.<br /> Daily total: $75<br /> <strong>Weekly Total: $689.79</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Food + Drink: $41.17</li> <li>Fun / Entertainment: $75</li> <li>Home + Health: $59.44</li> <li>Clothes + Beauty: $0</li> <li>Transport: $459.60</li> <li>Other: $54.00</li> </ul> <strong>Section Five: Reflections</strong><br /> Aside from the car insurance bill, this was a typical week for me, COVID or not. We make the majority of our meals at home and usually splurge on drive-thru/delivery once every other week. I may have overspent on the Secret Santa gift, but I don't often give gifts out to friends. It's not something our family does either. For TJ’s Christmas/birthday gift, we usually talk upfront about costs. I’ve gifted him fancy restaurant experiences the past 2 years, since we can share that experience, but obviously can’t do that now. Snowshoeing is a nice change of pace. <br /> The conversations with TJ this week have given me thought on how to approach him differently about finances and working together in a relationship. I’m still unsure about the future financially, particularly as my parents near retirement age and that TJ has pulled out his 401k to pay his debts. I don't know if I can support both my parents and TJ together, so I am finding ways to upskill and/or side hustles without becoming a workaholic or bogged down by stress. <br /> Writing this money diary was also the first time where I really paid attention to my past income and current income. I might be contributing too much into ESPP that could go towards the 401k or mortgage instead? I also seem to have been underpaid for what I did in past jobs, even in a LCOL area.<br /> </div> submitted by <a href="?nw=9057"> throwaway_md_182481 </a> to <a href="?nw=6058"> MoneyDiariesACTIVE </a> <span><a href="?nw=3653">[link]</a></span> <span><a href="?nw=6205">[comments]</a></span></p> <H2>online games to play with friends web browser video</H2> <p> <img width="100" height="60" alt="Best free PC games to play with friends - YouTube" title="From sprawling MMOs to cartoon beat ‘em ups, here are the best free games you can play with friends in 2018.
