Hello everyone, I recently bought an epiphone casino and I've been having major intonation problems with it. After I set the action to my liking, I went on to check the intonation. The first couple of strings (High E, B) were fine but G was where I started to encounter problems. Setting the intonation on your Epiphone SG requires a fresh set of strings and an electronic guitar tuner. A guitar that is properly intonated requires that the string's vibrating distance between the nut, 12th fret and the bridge saddle be equal. The standard Epiphone Casino (these days) is a Chinese-made model. There's also an American-made model built alongside Gibson products in the Gibson factory. This one is situated right in-between. It's Indonesian-made, but very high quality. I have an Epiphone Casino which I cannot intonate correctly. I suspect the bridge has been put in the wrong place when fitted in the factory but need the collective knowledge of the forum to confirm. My understanding is that the scale length is measured from the nut to where the string sits on the saddle. Once you have acceptable relief, i.e. no buzz and easy action, set your intonation and you're done. This is the opposite order of most setup directions. It is based on performance and not measurements, hence, I don't take any. It works because the neck is immobile between frets 17 and 22. The trussrod only affects lower frets.
